The Old Catholic Church traces its historical roots back to biblical times as part of the "Universal Catholic Church". While the seeds for separation from Rome were sown in the 15th and 16th centuries, the actual break from Rome occurred in 1889 after the Vatican enacted the doctrine of "Papal Infallibility".

Cathedral of Hope - Dallas, TX - On July 30, 1970, twelve gay and lesbian pioneers gathered to discuss the establishment of an MCC Church in Dallas, TX. By Nov. there were 40. By 1994 the congregation numbered well over 1,200 giving Dallas the honor of having the largest predominately gay and lesbian church in the world. In 2003 they became an independent Church from MCC.
